WAR AND PEACE
PERSONAL THOUGHTS ABOUT CURRENT WARS
“After each war there is a little less democracy to save.” - Brooks Atkinson
I am saddened to see so many innocent people, women, children and elderly being killed by the current wars in Europe and in the Middle East.
I noticed and started to wonder why two current, brutal wars started against two different states that are run by prominent but different Jewish leaders? One of them achieved his prominence by intelligent diplomacy, knowledge of history and humility, while the other achieved his prominence with not so appreciable reasons and extreme right-wing arrogance and becoming the longest serving prime minister.
I am neither a politician nor a social scientist or statesperson, and I do not know much about the world’s power politics. I also do not know the answer to the above question, but I know that in Nature nothing happens without a cause. Things happen according to cause-and-effects, and action-and-reaction relationships.
I also know that history tells us that the first casualty in any war is the truth. Continuous lies, raw emotions, revenge, and fear of losing leadership or power position prolongs the war and throws it into an uncharted territory with unknown consequences.
For peace to come first the truth, human rights, and common sense must prevail, and be accepted by both sides. Denying humans rights, killing more innocent people, and destroying their cities will never lead to a lasting real peace.
It is easy to start a war from far away with modern, destructive, and deadly war weapons. But it is much more difficult to achieve peace. Peace requires more courage, intelligence, quality leadership, knowledge and sense of human history, and self-confidence.
