Dr. M. Nuri Kalkay was born in 1934 as the fifth child of a large caucasian family located in Erzurum (a city located in eastern Turkey). He completed his medical education by the support of his uncle in Istanbul Çapa Faculty of Medicine. After the completion of his primary medical education, he moved United States of America in 1966 for further study and became a Gastroenterologist by graduation from SUNY Dowstate Medical School and the NJ College of Medicine.
He has been working as a Gastroenterologist and doctor in the state of New Jersey since 1972. Through the years he never lost his love and passion for the study of medicine, he is a strong believer in the fact that medicine can not be thought in an environment where the recipient of the information (the student) is passive. According to Dr. M. Nuri Kalkay, medicine can only be thought through the Socratic methodolgy of dialects where the student actively gets involved in the process of teaching and learning through questions.
Dr. M. Nuri Kalkay decided to create this blog to share his experience in the professional field of medicine and more importantly his experience in life through in depth articles that reflect his way of critical thinking.
