Imprisoned in every fat person a thin one wildly signaling to be let out.” – Cyril Connelly

My interest in obesity and weight loss comes from my family, because it runs in my family. I also have first-hand experience treating patients with obesity and metabolic syndrome,

I know how difficult it is to stick to a restrictive diet knowing that it is going to fail.

There must be a better way to deal with obesity besides having a bariatric surgery; it is called “mindful eating habits.” It relies on having and following some basic medical knowledge.

I thought it would be very helpful to share my accumulated experience and knowledge about obesity with my readers, in multiple parts as follows:

1 -The body’s basic functional metabolism and energy expenditure

2 -Is there a metabolically healthy obesity?

3 -Does our body change its energy metabolism to fight against rapid weight loss?

4 -How to train your mind to eat less by developing mindful eating habits?

5 -What is “Food Craving” and how to quell it?

6 -Are eating habits associated with different rates of mortality?

7 -How to save your health and the health of planet Earth by not eating red meat?

8 -Is there a link between eating habits and mental health?

9 -Is it possible to fortify our immune system by following certain diets and taking additional food supplements, vitamin and minerals?

10- To heal your body and your mind, make regular exercise an essential part of your mindful eating habits.

There is no question in my mind that heredity plays the most important role in weight gain and obesity. We acquired this genetic tendency from our ancient hunter – gatherer ancestors.  In ancient times, they have lived in a seasonal feast or famine environment. Those who could gain excess weight during the feast season could survive famines. So excess weight gain must have been acquired through adaptive evolutionary mutations and/or spontaneous mutations, which made them “the survival of the fittest.” Over time, this genetic tendency passed down to their offspring, all the way down to the present. That is why, many of us are genetically prone to gain weight, especially when there is plenty of calorie dense and relatively cheap foods available, and heavily advertised and delivered 24/7.

I believe, these so called “junk foods” are the main cause of worldwide epidemics of obesity.

Therefore, over- weight people should stop blaming themselves, it is not completely their fault that they are fat. I believe they could benefit great deal if they could try to develop mindful eating habits. I urge them to read on and learn about it. Knowledge will make you stronger to deal with your weight problems successfully.
