FOR THE SAKE OF YOUR HEALTH…

#2 FOLLOW AN OPTIMAL DIET

Modern humans (Homo sapiens) have evolved over millions of years of evolution, from our primitive hunter-gatherer ancestor, our bodies too have evolved accordingly (anatomically, physiologically, metabolically and genetically) to perform its best and to become survival of the fittest. The nutritional influence of our primitive ancestors’ diets, eating habits and life styles are all factors to consider. Maybe we will be better of eating like our ancient ancestors? Therefore, it is very important to know their habits, and try to imitate our primitive ancestor’s diet and eating habits. In order to do this, first we should find out if there is a primitive population group at the present time that are still living as a primitive “hunter-gatherer” tribe.

Indeed, such a primitive living tribe, the “Hadza People,” was found in Tanzania, Africa. This small tribe of few hundred people immediately became an open air laboratory for scientists from all over the world. Scientists started to study their diet, eating habits, lifestyles, general health, immune system and their guts microbiome population as well as many other aspects of their life.

One thing all Hadza people had in common was that they were very fit and they had very efficient energy expenditure and metabolic health. There was no one with a chronic degenerative illness among them.

Hadza men set out in groups, every day early in the morning to hunt, fish and to collect honey from their hives. They had to walk and run, 5 to 10 miles every day, during the hunt to chase after a wild animal. Hadza women also walked long distances to collect berries, fruits, vegetables, dig up tubers, roots and to collect other plant foods.

Their diet is simple, fresh, natural, organic and contains only few varieties of seasonal foods. Plant foods are the main staple of their diet, which they supplemented with fresh meat, fish, fruits and honey.

This diet is now called optimal diet or Paleo diet and it is becoming one of the most popular diet in the  modern world to fight obesity and chronic illnesses.
